What you get

Websites that work for your business

There are plenty of web designers in Doncaster. What I focus on is the part that matters: a site that looks professional, loads fast and helps turn visitors into customers.

Nothing is a template. Every site is designed for your business, so you do not end up looking like the competitor down the road. And because it is just me, you get straight answers and a website you are proud to send people to.

Everything on the right is included in every website I build. Not an upgrade, not a package tier. Included.

Mobile-first, responsive design

Over half your visitors are on a phone. The site is designed for that screen first and scales up, not the other way round.

Speed you can measure

Optimised images, minimal scripts and proper caching. Fast pages rank better, convert better and cost less to run.

Search engine optimisation built in

Semantic HTML, structured data, sensible titles and descriptions, a sitemap. The foundations Google actually reads.

Accessible by default

Keyboard navigation, readable contrast, proper labels. Good for every visitor and good for your rankings.

Contact forms that reach you

Spam-protected forms that land in your inbox, with a confirmation so you know they worked.

Training and handover

A walkthrough of how to update your own content, plus documentation for the day you need it.

Businesses covering Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield and beyond get pages that rank in each area without duplicating the whole site.

What makes a website convert

The anatomy of a site that gets enquiries

Good web design is not decoration. It is a set of decisions that make it easy for the right person to get in touch.

A headline that says what you do

Within three seconds a visitor should know what you offer, where, and why you. Clever slogans lose to clear ones every time.

Proof before promises

Reviews, photos of real work, accreditations and the people behind the business. Trust is what turns a visit into a phone call.

One obvious next step

Call, book, quote or buy. Every page has a clear action, and the phone number is never more than a thumb away on mobile.

Local signals

Your address, the areas you cover and consistent business details, so Google connects the site to searches near you.

Pages that answer real questions

Each service gets its own page written around what customers actually search for, not a single wall of text.

Speed on a real phone

Tested on a mid-range handset over mobile data, because that is how most of Doncaster will find you.

Local SEO

Getting found in Doncaster

When someone in Doncaster searches for what you do, Google decides who to show from a mix of your website, your Google Business Profile and what other sites say about you. A well-built website is the part of that you control completely.

Local search engine optimisation is built into every site rather than sold as an add-on. These are the pieces that make the difference for a local business.

Google Business Profile alignment

Your website, your listing and your directories all say the same name, address and phone number, which is what map rankings depend on.

Location and service pages

Pages for the services and areas you actually want to be found for, written properly rather than spun out by a tool.

Structured data

LocalBusiness, Service and FAQ schema so search engines understand what you do, where, and what people ask about it.

Core Web Vitals that pass

Google measures loading, stability and responsiveness on real devices. Every site I launch is built to pass, not patched afterwards.

Reviews made easy

A short link and a spot on the site that make asking for Google reviews part of how you finish a job.

Search Console from day one

Sitemap submitted, indexing checked, and a plain-English explanation of what to watch in the months after launch.

A five-week website, week by week

What a typical build looks like

This is the shape of a standard business website of five to ten pages. Simpler sites compress it. Sites with e-commerce or booking add a phase for building and testing those features.

Whatever the size, you see the design before anything is built and the real site on a staging URL from the third week.

  1. Discovery and content plan

What you do, who you want more of, and which competitors keep turning up on Google. We agree the pages and what each one needs to say.

  2. Design

Homepage and a key service page designed for mobile and desktop. You see and approve the look before anything is built.

  3. Build

The full site built on a staging URL you can click through, with the CMS in place so content can start going in.

  4. Content, SEO and review

Words and photos in, titles and descriptions written, structured data added, forms tested. Your feedback rounds happen here.

  5. Launch and handover

Domain pointed, SSL live, redirects in place if there was an old site, Search Console submitted, and a walkthrough of how to update your own content.

How it works

Simple, straightforward process

  1. A proper conversation

Your business, your customers, what the site needs to do for you. No jargon.

  2. Plan, price and design

A written scope and one price. You see the design before anything is built.

  3. Build and review

Progress shared on a staging URL as we go. Revisions are part of the process.

  4. Launch and support

We go live, I show you how to update it, and I stick around for questions.

Website redesign

Six signs your website is holding you back

A redesign done properly keeps the rankings you have and fixes the reasons the site stopped working.

It looks wrong on a phone

Tiny text, buttons you cannot tap, a menu that breaks. Most of your visitors are seeing this version.

It takes more than three seconds to load

Every extra second loses visitors and rankings. Old themes and plugin stacks are usually the cause.

You cannot update it yourself

If changing a phone number means paying someone, the site is working against you.

It does not show up for your own services

Search your trade plus Doncaster. If competitors appear and you do not, the structure needs fixing, not just the words.

The enquiries stopped

A site that used to work and now does not is usually a sign the market and the search results have moved on without it.

It is embarrassing to send people to

If you hesitate before putting the link on a van or a business card, that is reason enough.

Web design cost

How pricing works, and what moves it

No price list, because a five-page site and an online shop are not the same job. Here is what actually drives the number.

How many pages need real design

A five-page brochure site and a thirty-page site with a service page per area are different amounts of work. Templates within the site keep the second one sensible.

E-commerce or booking

Products, payments, stock and orders, or calendars and appointments, add genuine complexity and testing time.

Content and photography

If the words and pictures exist, the build moves quickly. If they need writing or shooting, that is planned and priced honestly rather than left to the end.

Integrations

Connecting a CRM, accounting software, a review platform or a job-management tool each adds a small piece of work.

An existing site to migrate

Keeping your rankings through a redesign means mapping old pages to new ones and redirecting them properly. Worth doing, and priced in.

One written quote

You describe what the site needs to do. I send back a scope and a single price with nothing added later.

No monthly fees for the build

The website is paid for once. Managed hosting and support are optional, priced separately and never a condition of the build.

You own everything

Design, code, content and accounts. If you ever move on, the whole site goes with you.

Working together

What you bring, what I handle

Most of the delay on website projects is content. Knowing the split up front keeps the build on time.

You bring

  • A clear idea of who your best customers are
  • Your logo, if you have one, and any brand colours
  • Photos of real work, real people and real premises where possible
  • Your business details, service list and areas covered
  • Examples of websites you like and ones you do not
  • Someone who can say yes to a design

I handle

  • Page structure, wording guidance and search-friendly headings
  • Design for mobile and desktop, from scratch
  • Build, hosting setup, SSL and email deliverability for forms
  • Titles, descriptions, structured data and the sitemap
  • Redirects from an old site so rankings are kept
  • Training, documentation and Search Console setup

Who I design for

Local businesses of every kind

Twenty years of web design for Doncaster businesses covers most trades and professions. The details change, but the job is always the same: make it obvious what you do, make it easy to trust you, and make it simple to get in touch.

Trades and contractors

Builders, electricians, plumbers, roofers and landscapers who need the phone to ring in the areas they cover.

Professional services

Accountants, solicitors, financial advisers and consultants where credibility decides the enquiry.

Hospitality and retail

Cafes, restaurants, shops and venues that live or die on opening hours, menus, directions and bookings.

Health, beauty and wellbeing

Clinics, salons, therapists and trainers with treatments to explain and diaries to fill.

Property and estate agents

Listings that look right on a phone and enquiry forms that reach the right person quickly.

Charities and community groups

Clear stories, easy donations and event information, without a budget that runs to an agency.

After launch

A website is never really finished

Launch day is the start. This is what keeps the site fast, safe and useful in the years after.

Hosting I can manage for you

Fast UK hosting with SSL, daily backups, updates and monitoring, looked after by me for a monthly fee, or set up in your own account if you prefer.

Optional care plan

Updates, security patches and small changes handled monthly if you would rather not think about it. No lock-in.

Analytics you can read

Privacy-friendly analytics and Search Console, with a short explanation of the three numbers that matter.

Room to grow

Built on Laravel, the site can gain booking, e-commerce, a customer portal or a full application later without starting again.

Doncaster and South Yorkshire

A web designer you can actually meet

I live and work in Doncaster, so if you would rather talk through your website over a coffee than a video call, that is easy to arrange. I build sites for businesses across the borough, from the town centre to Bawtry, Thorne, Mexborough and Armthorpe, and across South Yorkshire into Rotherham, Barnsley and Sheffield.

Being local also means I understand the market you are competing in. I know which searches matter for a Doncaster trade, what customers here expect from a site, and how to make a small business look as credible online as it is in person.

Further afield, it makes no difference to the project. Clients across the UK get the same design process, the same staging link and the same straight answers. Tell me about your business and I will come back with a plan and one price within a working day.

Jason just gets it. No technical waffle, no over-promising. He listened to what we needed, suggested a simpler approach that saved us money, and delivered exactly what he said he would. Refreshing to work with someone so straightforward.

Web design questions

What Doncaster businesses ask before starting

How much does web design cost in Doncaster?
It depends on what the site has to do, so I quote each project individually rather than publishing a price list. The main things that move the price are the number of pages, whether you need booking or e-commerce, and whether content needs writing. Tell me what you need and you will get one written number, with nothing added later.
How long does a website take to build?
Most small business websites take three to six weeks from the first conversation to launch. Larger sites with e-commerce or booking features take longer and are broken into milestones so you see progress throughout.
Do you use WordPress or templates?
No templates or page builders. Every site is designed and built from scratch on Laravel, which keeps it fast, secure and free from plugin bloat. You still get a simple way to edit your own text and images.
Will my website show up on Google?
Every site is built with search engine optimisation from the first line of code: clean structure, fast loading, structured data, a sitemap and proper local signals. I will also explain what you can do after launch, such as collecting reviews, to keep improving your rankings.
Do I need to write the content myself?
You know your business better than anyone, so the raw material usually comes from you. I give you a page-by-page plan of what each page needs to say, tidy and structure what you send, and can arrange professional copywriting if you would rather hand it over completely.
What about hosting and my domain?
You have two options. Most clients have me host and manage the site: fast UK hosting, SSL, daily backups, security updates and monitoring, all looked after for a simple monthly fee, so you never have to think about servers. If you would rather keep it fully in-house, I set up hosting in your own account and hand over the keys instead. Either way your domain stays in your name, and if you ever want to move, the whole site goes with you.
I already have a website. Will I lose my rankings if you redesign it?
Not if the redesign is done properly. I map every old page to its new equivalent, set up redirects, keep what was working and submit the new site to Search Console. Done carefully, a redesign usually improves rankings because the technical foundations get better.
Can I update the website myself?
Yes. Every site comes with a simple content editor, and I walk you through it at handover so you can change text, images and pages whenever you like. If you would rather not touch it, I can make the changes for you as part of managed hosting and support.
Can you add online booking or a shop later?
Yes, and that is one of the reasons I build on Laravel. Booking, e-commerce, customer accounts or a full web application can be added to the same site later without rebuilding it.
Do you design logos and branding?
I keep to what I am good at, which is designing and building websites. If you need a logo or full brand identity I can recommend designers I have worked with, and I will build the site around whatever they create.
Can we meet in person?
If you are in Doncaster or anywhere nearby in South Yorkshire, happily. For everyone else, video calls and a staging link work just as well and most projects run that way.
